Super-Soft "Carding" Wheel For Rust/IM Bluing At Economical Price

Found for us by Ray Hall, Griffith, IN, these baby-soft wire wheels are perfect for carding between coats when rust bluing, or when using the Hot Water Method with Dicropan IM Bluing Solution. Won't remove metal, or give "satin" look.

SPECS: 6" (15.2cm) diameter wheels available in 2 row and 4 row. .0025" diameter stainless steel wire. Staggered rows of 1-3⁄4" (4.44cm) long, tufted bristles. 1⁄4" (6.35mm) hole through 2" (51mm) diameter wood center (drill to fit). 2 row has ½" (13mm) wide face. 4 row has 1-1⁄4" (32mm) wide face. Maximum RPM 3500.

Trovato per noi da Ray Hall, Griffith, IN, queste ruote bambino-morbido filo sono perfette per la cardatura tra le mani quando la ruggine brunitura, o quando si utilizza il metodo acqua calda con soluzione di brunitura IM Dicropan. Non rimuovere il metallo, o dare look "raso".

Specifiche: 6 cm (15.2) ruote di diametro disponibile nella riga 2 e 4 di fila.. 0025" filo in acciaio inox di diametro. Barcollando righe 1-3 ⁄ 4"(4.44 cm) lungo, trapuntate di setole. 1 ⁄ 4"(6,35 mm) con foro attraverso 2" (51 mm) diametro legno centro (trapano per adattarsi). 2 riga ha ampia faccia ½"(13mm). 4 fila ha 1-1 ⁄ 4"(32mm) faccia larga. Massimo RPM 3500.

Great Product (21.12.2010)

Works great, I just ran a long bolt though it to fabricate an an arbor and chucked it up in my drill press and it does a fantastic job as a carding wheel. Very nicely made for the money and perfect for the job.

Great Item for Rust Blueing (21.03.2011)

I used this to card my double shotgun barrels after rust bluing. Brush has a 1/4 arbor hole, so I just put a long bolt on it and chucked it up in the drill press at about 500 rpm. Really cuts down on time and leaves a great finish. This is baby soft. Almost impossible to overpolish.

If you're rust bluing on the cheap - this is the one thing worth splurging on.

Essential for Slow Rust Blueing (01.04.2011)

The bristles on this wheel are so fine they feel like a paint brush. It is perfect for carding the soft oxidation formed from the boiling steps of original Slow Rust Blueing. I set mine up in a drill press so I can have lots of room to move around and a slow speed that's impossible with a buffer or grinder motor. It works beautifully.

I use this everyday with Pilkingtons. Well made, perfect for rust bluing and it doesn't' cost a ton. Run it slow, high speed buffer/grinder will ruin it and your work.

I didn't want to put it in my drill press because i wanted a vertical spin not horizontal which is more comfortable for me and works better for long guns. So I put a long bolt through it, chucked in a 3/8 drill, and clamped the drill in a vice. A wire tie on the trigger to give the speed I want and I have made a couple thousand dollars with it. Buying another one right now.

Works great for rust bluing (02.01.2011)

My first attempt at rust bluing involved an 1895 Colt New Navy revolver. This carding wheel turned the rough black finish that emerged from the rusting and boiling steps into a beautiful finish. The wire bristles are tough enough to remove the rough black, but soft enough to polish without scratching.
