Adds a touch of authenticity to pump and lever action rifles, whether they’re used for hunting or Cowboy Action Shooting. Provides better sight definition and faster target acquisition in the field or on the range. Locates the aperture closer to the eye for a clear sight picture; longer sight radius increases accuracy. All steel construction with micrometer adjustments for windage and elevation. Folds to the rear for storage. Mounting screw set must be purchased separately. SPECS: Steel, blued. Older guns may require drilling and tapping. Includes (2) ½" diameter apertures: .055" (1.4mm) and .102" (2.6mm) size holes, and (1) ¾" diameter aperture with .032" (.81mm) hole. Savage 99 will not fit late rifles with top safety. Late rifles with safety at trigger will require drilling and tapping. Mounting screw sets sold separately.

One major issue. (12.12.2009)

I have an 1895CB.I feel that the mounting needs refinement. It is a three piece unit, lower base,upper base,and shaft.In order to remove the bolt for cleaning or service you must remove the upper base and shaft as a unit each time which could result in screw slot damage plus loss of accuracy.

Clunky Design - Interferes with Cleaning (15.01.2010)

I also installed this sight on my 1895CB Marlin. I have to agree with Erik from Wisconsin, the sight base is much too massive and the sight has to be disassembled in order to remove the bolt to clean the barrel from the breech end. I removed this tang sight and went with a receiver sight instead.

Well made - poor design (30.01.2012)

I own several Marlin 336's - including Sport Carbines, a 336C, a 336 Octagon, and a 336 Cowboy, and have tried the sight on all. In each case, it mounts so far back on the tang (to accomodate bolt travel) that it interferes with a proper hold on the buttstock grip - you can't wrap your thumb over the tang area. The materials used are top notch - just a poor design for the 336. Get a receiver mounted peepsight instead - much cheaper and will work much better.
