The slightly larger ID of that extrusion gives us more real estate around the gas block, even more rigidity than the M76, and takes longer to heat. SOLGW is not discontinuing the M76. That will remain in full production. They are just adding the M89 to the lineup. Ballistic Advantage AR-15 barrels come in a great variety of chamberings, lengths, and contours, so you are certain to find the exact barrel you need for any type of rifle you are building or upgrading. These barrels are precision machined from extra-strong 4150 chrome-moly-vanadium steel alloy and have a nickel-boron coated barrel extension with M4 feed ramps to help ensure reliable feeding and extraction. The Government, M4, and SPR, and DMR profiles are all well-known among AR-15 aficionados. All barrels are chambered in 5.56 NATO, so they accept both military-type 5.56x45mm and civilian .223 Remington ammo. The DRP (Distinct Rigid Profile) is a stocky profile designed for short pistol / SBR barrels. On their longer AR-15 barrels, the Ballistic Advantage folks eliminated sharp shoulders and smoothed the tapers to symmetrically limit barrel "whip" caused by vibrations and flexing during prolonged shooting. This also controls barrel harmonics, so the barrel returns quickly to its "home" position after each shot - highly beneficial for follow up shots at a high rate of fire or even full-auto fire. Dieses System klemmt die Rail mit extremer Kraft und Präzision auf den Stahl Barrel Nut und drückt gleichzeitig den Handguard nach hinten zum oberen Receiver. Der etwas grössere Innendurchmesser dieser Extrusion bietet mehr Platz um den Gasblock, sorgt für zusätzliche Steifigkeit im Vergleich zum M76 und benötigt länger zum Aufheizen.
Wichtig zu wissen: SOLGW stellt den M76 nicht ein. Er bleibt in voller Produktion, während das M89 neu hinzugefügt wird.

Bei den längeren AR-15-Läufen hat Ballistic Advantage scharfe Schultern entfernt und die Verjüngungen geglättet, um das "Whip" des Laufs, das durch Vibrationen und Biegungen beim längeren Schiessen verursacht wird, symmetrisch zu begrenzen. Dies kontrolliert auch die Lauf-Harmoniken, sodass der Lauf nach jedem Schuss schnell in seine "Heimat"-Position zurückkehrt – äusserst vorteilhaft für Nachfolgeschüsse bei hoher Feuerrate oder sogar im Dauerfeuer.
